2024:S8 The Art of Negotiation
Ending the year with Session 8, “The Art of Negotiation,” aimed to deepen scholars' understanding of negotiation fundamentals, focusing on practical skills like positive body language, relationship-building, and strategic planning.

The session delved into future trends and emerging practices in architecture through a series of presentations, interactive workshops, and a panel discussion.

2024: S5 Equity, Diversity, Inclusion…and Belonging
June is Pride month and paralleling the importance of equality, session 5 discussed the aspects of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging as it pertains to the design and built environment, we will discuss why DEI competency is important for design professionals and the profession.
2024: S4 Professional Practice & the One-Day MBA
Understanding basic legal, ethical, and business concepts is critical to running a successful architectural practice. Beyond the creative aspects of design, architects must also learn how to balance finances, business development, and team management while understanding standards and regulations. The session will explore the necessary skills and possible pathways to firm leadership roles.
2024: S3 - Tackling Climate Change
This session teaches the audience the connection between climate change and the built environment. The presentation will illustrate methods and successful case studies that reduce both embodied and operational carbon and create resilience in buildings and public infrastructure.
2024: S2 - Firm Resilience & Understanding Trends
24:S2 will focus on how understanding various trends such as in construction, economy, technology, and culture/ demographics can inform the strategies for firm resilience. The speakers will identify and evaluate sources of data from the perspective of a developer as well as the perspective of a designer. The session will go on to explore specific strategies for business management and marketing based on this data that can be utilized proactively for a resilient practice. A tour of the 80 M office building extension will be conducted to observe the features of an emerging trend in the region, mass timber, and the risks and opportunities of executing this construction type will be evaluated
2024: S1 - Leading Together
This past Friday, our first session for the 2024 Class of CKLP titled "Leading Together" was organized by Scholars Sarah Goff, AIA, LEED AP BD+C and Gustavo Colmenares, AIA, NCARB and focused on introspection and team dynamics, prompting reflections on individual, team, and leadership identities through presentations, panel discussions, and interactive workshops. Architects were recognized as pivotal figures in shaping cities, setting the tone for discussions on resilience, authenticity, and skill development.
2024 Bootcamp
The inaugural session of the CKLDP (Christopher Kelly Leadership and Development Program) for the year 2024 was a dynamic and inspiring event that set the tone for a year of growth, learning, and collaboration. On Friday, January 8, the current co-chairs, Danielle Encela and Thomas Masino, welcomed the incoming class. The session kicked off with a comprehensive overview of the program's rich history, highlighting its evolution and impact over the years. The co-chairs eloquently outlined the goals and expectations for the upcoming year, emphasizing the importance of leadership and career development in today's dynamic world.
